Ticketmaster will continue as the official ticket agent for all Brisbane Lions AFL and AFLW home games at the Gabba and the new Brighton Homes Arena.

The new five-year agreement was announced on Thursday following a competitive tender process and will see new technology launched for AFL games at the Gabba.

The club said on its website under the extended agreement, Ticketmaster and the Lions will seek to continue to attract new fans to Lions events along with a commitment to ensuring ticket prices remain extremely competitive and when paired with a superior Lions home game experience, excellent value for money.

Ticketmaster is the world’s largest ticketing company and will bring new technology to the Gabba including the Virtual Venue which allows supporters to see the view from their seat before buying.

The Gabba was the first stadium in Australia to have all-mobile ticketing thanks to Ticketmaster, reducing ticket scalping, ticket fraud and improving environmental impacts.

Ticketmaster will also be the first ticket agency for the new Brighton Homes Arena. The 10,000-capacity Springfield venue will open later this year, ready to host Lions’ home games for the 2023 AFLW season, while it’s also earmarked to stage events for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

Brisbane Lions GM of Consumer Ben Kerswill said Ticketmaster’s contract extension was a big win for members and fans who attend Lions’ home games.

"It's great to be able to extend our partnership with Ticketmaster with their world-leading technology already seeing our crowds at the Gabba grow season by season"

"Throughout the pandemic Ticketmaster has supported the return of crowds to the Gabba, with socially distanced seating, contact tracing and other measures to keep our fans and members safe"

"Working with Ticketmaster not only gives us access to their in-house technology suite, but a range of certified partners has allowed us to get more people to the Gabba through innovative group and partner ticketing programs"

Ticketmaster Managing Director Gavin Taylor said the extension of the partnership was a proud moment for Ticketmaster.

“We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the Brisbane Lions and to play our part in growing our beloved national sport, bringing the joy and magic of live AFL to even more fans.” said Taylor.

The extended partnership means the Gabba will continue to be one of the only major Australian stadiums to have multiple ticket agents, with tickets for cricket matches at the Brisbane venue sold exclusively through Ticketek.

Tickets are now on sale for the Brisbane Lions first two AFL Premiership Season home games at the Gabba, with tickets available through the Austadiums Tickets Hub.
