Optus Stadium voted Australia’s best in 2021 Stadium Awards
Fans have voted Optus Stadium as Australia’s best sports stadium in the 2021 Stadium Awards on Austadiums – one of six winning venues across seven categories.
It’s the second time the 60,000-capacity Perth stadium has taken out the public vote on Austadiums, having been named Australia’s best stadium the last time the awards were held in 2019.
Optus Stadium collected 29% of the votes, with the MCG in second position on 22% and CommBank Stadium third with almost 12%. Also in the mix were Suncorp Stadium, Adelaide Oval and AAMI Park.
The Stadium Awards allow fans to vote for their favourite sports stadiums in Australia across various categories, with voting for the 2021 awards open across a two-week period in the second half of December.

With the AFL and NRL Grand Final’s held at different stadiums in 2021 due to Covid (Perth and Brisbane), it was both venues taking out their respective competition, with Optus Stadium voted Best AFL Stadium and Suncorp Stadium voted Best NRL Stadium.
After missing out on an award in 2019, the Melbourne Cricket Ground returned to the winners list this time, voted Australia’s Best Cricket Ground, and rounding out the sports categories, Melbourne’s AAMI Park was voted Best A-League Stadium.
There is a new stadium on the winners list in the 2021, with Queensland Country Bank Stadium named Australia’s Best Regional Stadium. The Townsville venue took out the category ahead of previous winner GMHBA Stadium, and McDonald Jones Stadium.
Finally, the Best Indoor Arena was again won by Rod Laver Arena as it was in the 2019 awards, with RAC Arena and Qudos Bank Arena second and third respectively.
