It was an upset. OSU was the only undefeated team in one of the major conferences. Florida was 11-1 going into the game in Phoenix.

Anyone interested in a recap of the season just gone?
hey yeah.. a recap would be good.. and also a re-cap of the game if you saw it..

unfortunately we didn't get it on TV.. unlike last year where we were able to watch Vince Young single-handedly overcome the seemingly unbeatable USC in the Rose Bowl..

Also..

Can you please explain why this year the BCS championship game wasn't a 'bowl' game.. as in previous years the sugar/cotton/rose/orange crowd have shared it around..

I'd go so far as to suggest money.

More BCS Series games = more TV, more tickets sold etc

A playoff would be excellent.

Basically the game was exciting for the first ten minutes. Ted Ginn Jr. of Ohio State ran back the opening kick-off. 7-0 OSU. Then Florida put together a methodical drive to tie it at 7. The Florida defense stopped OSU and then the Gators offense took over and scored again, Ohio State didn't score until the second quarter and by then it was 21-14. Florida won 41-14 and made Ohio State look silly.

I'm a Tennessee fan...the Tennessee Volunteers...our main rival is Bama and then Florida. Last season was our worst and first losing season since 1988 as we went 5-6. Here's hoping that we get back on track this year.

Our unofficial fight song ~ Rocky Top: http://www.utk.edu/athletics/rockytop.au

This song is played after our victories and is the last song played of the night as the stadium is draining ~ Tennessee Waltz: http://www.cs.utk.edu/~bigger/sounds/tnwaltz.au

One of our sayings before every home game right before kickoff ~ "It's Football Time In Tennessee!": http://members.aol.com/ke4sdj/iftintn.wav

Here is a 73 MB 11 minute highlight video of the 1995 Alabama vs Tennessee (The Third Saturday in October) game: http://rapidshare.de/files/20402369/Vol ... 5.wmv.html

Lastly, Neyland Stadium is currently going through some much needed renovations: http://68.156.229.10/~phillipfulmer/ney ... rings.html

Let me know if y'all have any questions about college football or stadiums.

Got the best school song as well. 8)

I want to know if Smokey the Coonhound has ever had a fight with UGA, the Georgia Bulldog's mascot?

Other match-ups I'd like to see:
- Trojans v Spartans (Southern California v Michigan State)
- Tigers v Tigers v Tigers v Tigers (LSU, Auburn, Clemson, Missouri)
- Sun Devils v Blue Devils (Arizona State v Duke)
- 'Cocks v Beavers (South Carolina v Washington State)

Hell, that stadium is just awesome. Why the hell don't the 49ers play here & not as terribly antiquated Candlestick Park?! :?

Anyone notice the paper banners some of the teams run through? And here was lil ol me thinking Australian Rules was the only sport which had things anything like that? :(

Mainly because that stadium is located on the other side of the country in the city of Athens, Georgia - Home of the Georgia Bulldogs.

I believe you were thinking 'Stanford'.

Yeah, as someone said, this is Sanford Stadium, home of the University of Georgia. Stanford actually built a new 50,000 capacity stadium which wouldn't be big enough for an NFL team anyway.

And talk about antiquated - this stadium has been around since the 1920's ;) although it has obviously been improved upon in that time.
