When was the last time they had a majority government? Its just about always been minorties over there from memory. Also the complete destruction of the Quebec Bloc is crazy, from 47 seats to 2.

And the Liberals are plummeting too! For a lot of the 20th century they dominated in Canada. Will be interesting to see if the NDP takes their place as a major beyond this next term.

Everyone loving the mass bitch session in Australian politics at the moment as individual members feel free to bitch and whine and the issue of not turning up for HOR votes...

This week the British conservative blogger Iain Dale was in Australia, and arrived admitting to a sneaking admiration for the robust, adversarial style of the country's politics. "It is very combative," he told ABC's The World Today on Tuesday. "I mean probably more combative than virtually any other Western democracy and I quite like that, I like people to say what they think and Australian politicians by and large, certainly do that."

Then he sat through two Question Times. Afterwards, he told the BBC it was 'an absolutely shameful, horrific spectacle.'

Pokies Reform? Going to occur or not?

Going to be an interesting year of Federal Politics. Asylum Seekers and their continued arrival isn't really riling the media or public up as much as normal. Or they may all just be discontented at the moment...

Once the speaker tilted the balance of power it was always a case of which independent would get rolled, and let's face it, it wasn't going to be B1 and B2.
