Tait "due for a rest"?!?!?!?!? He (like the rest of the Australian team) has hardly played over the past three weeks! What on earth is he being rested from?!?

LOL...
I'll watch the final, but have lost interest in Cricket World Cups.
May watch the semi as well. Have a feeling we are going to win again, not sure why.

Did anyone see Ponting's dummy spit last night? What happened?

Usual media beat up.DAWSONMOX wrote:Did anyone see Ponting's dummy spit last night? What happened?
Batsman had skied a ball, both Smith and Ponting went for it and bumped into each other. Luckily Ponting hung onto the catch, but he gave Smith a brief glare and threw the ball down at the ground.
Nothing to see here, move along...

Australia's first loss at a World Cup in almost 40 games. And like clockwork Andrew Hilditch proclaims his undying love for Ricky Ponting, essentially saying he can play on for as long as he likes. Apparently he is in fantastic form.

Shane Watson didn't fire, Australia lost. He's pretty much the barometer of the team these days (never though I would be saying that a few years back).
34 games in a row, pretty remarkable record really over the number of years. Pakistan are at both ends of the run as well. We'll be facing the winner of India or West Indies in the next stage, money would say India.

Er, no Ricky, it's the middle order that's not working - notably yourself. And Brett Lee aside, no, the bowling was not good.
India v Australia is an interesting matchup at the moment. neither team is in all that good or consistent form. The safe bet would say India to win, but who knows with cricket...

Re: Australian cricket team 2011
And so arrives Australia's inevitable early exit in the 2011 World Cup. Marred to the end by baffling selections - why drop Smith instead of White to bring David Hussey back into the team?
Anway, any guesses as to who will survive to play in the next World Cup? My guess is that the following are definitely gone: Ponting, Haddin, D Hussey, M Hussey, Lee, Tait, Johnson and Krezja. Of the other three, I'd be pretty nervous if my name was Cameron White. He had a terrible World Cup campaign and showed an alarming lack of ability to play spin bowling. As such he'd be a shoe-in for the West Indies team...

Ponting gone as captain. Denied he got a tap on the shoulder. Which is strictly accurate - it was more like a repeated beating with a blunt instrument.
Says "I've made it clear I'm available [for selection]". If he gets back to being in form, then yes, he can be considered for selection.
