English Championship Thread

Post by Kris »

Cannot hide my glee at Bristol City coming seventh - albeit after three rounds. So long as we stay up, i'll be happy.

I am completely in love with Jevons (in the most completely heterosexual way) and can't wait to see Brook-o and that young Tristan Plummer join our attack.

So who do YOU support in the lower leagues?

You'd hope so... Lee Trundle was also an awesome off-season signing.

Yeah I've seen a few YT videos of his goals.... You'll be doing well if they can keep him at the club I reckon...

Well this doesn't even really belong in this thread, but I can't be bothered starting an English Championship Division 1 thread!

Leeds United are having a great season, despite being deducted 15 points before the start of the season, they currently sit 5th on the table on 32 points. Without the deduction, they would be well on top. There goal difference of +25 is also the highest of any club. Their crowds have been great, averaging about 27k, climaxing with a sell-out of 32,501 on Saturday - the biggest crowd to watch a game in the 3rd div of english football since 1979. Note the top level of the main grandstand has been closed for a few years now reducing the capcity from 40k.

Hopefully they can keep it going and get back where they belong.

I hope they reopen the top of the East Stand at Elland Road, I plan to head up there a few times after the new year.

If the crowds continue like they are, surely they'll have to!
Do you know how they're doing financially at the moment?

Not sure, but one would assume that with the massive reduction in the wage bill and the increase in crowds this season, they'll be turning it around. The losses in the 3 cup competitions, whilst good for being able to concentrate on the League and the promotion push, could be seen as a small setback.
