The mega bucks they paid for the AFL may have prevented them from making a huge bid.

Will miss Bruce MacAvaney at the track. Rabs at the pool should be good though.

This is still 5 years away.

Will Rabs still be doing the calls? Will he be able to remember anyone's names? Could he survive a trip in a plane all the way to London? Would he commentate off a TV screen?

All very important questions. I won't rest until I know the answers.

Bump!

The O2 Arena is the main indoor venue for the 2012 Olympics. Michael Jackson was going to play concerts there.

It is also the home of the Greenwich Gumboots Australian Football Club.

AAP wrote:Olympian turns to prostitution to fund campaign
July 12, 2009 - 11:17AM

A New Zealand Olympian has opened a brothel to fund his London Olympics campaign.

Taekwondo athlete Logan Campbell says his parents had to fork out most of the $NZ150,000 it cost to get him to the Beijing games and he's had enough.

He's told the Sunday Star Times he's set up a high-class gentlemen's club with a friend in Auckland that he hopes will earn him $NZ300,000 for his London bid in 2011.

His parents are supportive, but Taekwondo New Zealand says selection isn't just based on performance, but also the athlete's ability to serve as an example to the country's youth.
He deserves GOLD!

I can think of 4 very good examples to young people:

1) ability to compete at an elite level.

2) independence from his parents.

3) entrepreneurial skills.

4) his taste in women.

When Olympic Gold is at stake, you'd be stiff to miss it.

*Bump*

1st round ballot tickets have been allocated. Much wailing and nashing of teeth from those who missed out completely (approx 60%) and those who got much less than hoped for.
I applied for about 2.5k pounds worth, got 126, but does include the womens beach volleyball quarter finals. The missus says I don't have to take her along to that one. Bonus!

And they celebrated by having Tom Daley dive into the diving pool, and having a 50m race in the main pool with some former athletes. The female javelin thrower doing breastroke was still more accomplished than Eric the Eel.
PM David Cameron mispronounced Jacques Rogge (Jack Rugga) and London Mayor Boris Johnson couldn't help doing a bit of early election campaigning banging on about his new buses.

All a bit rubbish really.
