Australian Rules Football is referred to as 'AFL Football' on this site because it's nice and simple, people recognise it instantly. I also decided on this after looking at other major sports sites.

Look at Fox Sports, they list it as AFL, while also listing Union, League, Soccer.

Sportal: AFL Football, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Soccer.

NineMSN refers to it as Aussie Rules. To me, that's a NSW/QLD name for it. No offence or anything - it's just how I always hear the game referred to in those 2 states (have no probs with it either).

Generally, it's eather 'Football, Footy, or AFL' in the traditional Aussie Rules states.

If I had to call it another name on this site, it would be 'Australian Football'. But I think AFL Football is fine. Or does this deserve another poll? :?

Yeah for sure, arguments keep people coming back to the site. :)

Once you hit 30 posts, you walk up the stairs to Tier 2. However, I do take bribes.

It is rarely called AFL Footlbal in NSW and QLD. It probably mayeb does but generally it is Aussie Rules.

For example I was playing soccer with this guy from melbourne and he said he wanted to "Get a footy". I was shocked and thought he was a League man but he was referencing a AFL ball. I never think of AFL as Football or Footy - except in its Official name which I never use.

I call it Aussie Rules as do people I know that follow the sport beyond the national competition. But most people I know call it AFL (I guess the AFL is their only exposure to the sport).

In NSW we have AFL NSW as well.

And for that I am glad soccer won

Because seriously mate get a life.

If you don't want to contribute thats fine...but to think you would change a perfectly good website just for your own ego and not post in any other thread...well that annoys me :x

Egan if you ever come across footage of matches at Subiaco from the early 80's, amongst the Red Rooster (no not Chicken Treat) advertising you will notice small hoardings that say WANFL on the perimeter fence.

Oh dear, that second logo looks like something from Paradise Beach.

Where are my white shoes and fake tanning oil?!

It goes without saying that I far prefer the first logo.
