I almost had the desire to listen to Eddie on the radio, just to hear him eat a fat one.Simmo79 wrote:Even when it was Essendon I knew it was Collingwood

Btw, for all the chest beating from AFL house about structuring the code along the lines of the NFL, they're finally seeing results. Australia's very own Roids League.

Funding the Suns and the Giants is deferring the early purchase of Etihad.

Hawks to keep playing in Launceston until 2021.
The new Hawthorn deal at a glance:
New five-year deal, worth $3.8 million a year
Hawks to play four Premiership season games at Aurora, plus a preseason match.
No more cash bonuses for on-field success
New deal to run from 2017 until 2021.

Are they called "All Australians" because no one else plays the game?

Re: AFL 2015
It's not actually an AFL concept. For half a century the all-australian team was picked from the best players of the national football carnivals, and comprised teams from all top tier leagues (hence All of Australia). In the years where there was no national football carnival there was no All Australian teams. In this era the game was branded national-football which survives only in the name of the SANFL today.gyfox wrote:Are they called "All Australians" because no one else plays the game?
And the earlier incarnation was a print media award, again not just VFL players. It even had VFA players.

I'm all for getting the boot in the AFL. But on the matter of history there's some important sh*t to uphold which transcends laughing at post 1987 WWF.gyfox wrote:Maybe I should have put my question in blue font.
