Sports History Forum - Fremantle WA

Post by Egan »

On the 28th July at the National Hotel Fremantle there will be the resurgence of an Australian Society Sports History meeting in Perth for the first of what will be monthly events. There are currently chapters operating events in Melbourne and Adelaide so if you are keen in going to one I can forward you the email details of one of the organisers in that state.

The first two presentations will be

Dr Shane Burke - Talking about the career of Tom Stannage at Swan Districts before he became a UWA academic

Ashley Morrison - talking about his documentary No Apologies, two Aboriginal female Matilda's who represented their country at the World Cup. This will include about 15 mins of the film.

Event will start about 7:00pm, with presentations beginning about 7:30-45pm.

I've created a Facebook event page as well to advise others of the event if you think they would be keen.

Look forward to meeting fellow austadiums members from Perth.

Venue moved to Northbridge.

Austadiums own hot dogma doing a presentation if anybody in Perth is keen to come down to the Game Sports Bar next Monday.

Normally get 15-20 people on a Monday night. Looking forward to hearing about the America's Cup in Freo as well.

Pity I missed that one Egan. America's Cup was pretty heady stuff for Freo - I worked in a pub there at the time, what a bun fight that was. Remember walking down the street with a shopping trolley full of cash to the bank with two very hefty bouncers as our safe was chockers.

We are now at Game Sports Bar in the City. The America's Cup one was a great talk, we ended up doing it on 31st August. I hope you can come to this event Andrew, should have some free food as we have partnered with a few organisations for this Premiere.

Cheers

Chris
