Not a bad add on. From the ACL give or take a bit comes $500k in sponsorship, $1.6m through the gate and $700k in travel allowance and prize money plus whatever we get out of the final which should be between $1m and $2m depending on where the home game is played and whether we win or are runners up. $3.8m - $4.8m minus costs is quite a tidy bonus on a profitable season.

Works for Wanderers because they get crowds (because it's not a club based in a dormitory town) and they've progressed to the final. For the Mariners, by contrast, it loses money every year.

In the UEFA CL, each win is worth 1m Euro, so proportionally it'd be a bit like wins being worth $100k to us, draws being worth $50k and making it through to the round of 16 being about $350k.

We get USD40k for a win and USD20k for a draw. We get a USD30k subsidy to travel away, totalling USD90k (but each trip actually costs USD75k apparently).

So imagine if the prizes were proportionally more similar to the UEFA CL.

Instead of the two wins and three away trips netting us:
1 x USD0 (group stage qualification) +
2 x USD40k (group stage wins)
3 x USD30k (travel subsidies)
---------------
Total = USD170K

We'd have had:
1 x $800k (group stage qualification) +
2 x $100k (group stage wins)
4 x $0 (travel subsidies)
---------------
Total = $1m

It'd make the competition attractive, no matter what your crowds were. It would mean the club would even prioritise getting into it rather than liking the exposure but hating the cost.

For Wanderers, it'd be a massive deal.

It'd cost the AFC a lot more obviously, but it seems the A3 leagues see the tournament as more a distraction than attraction (sending weak squads away etc.) so they might need to do something to make it more attractive.

Central Coast is an outlier to be honest. Adelaide and WSW have been rewarded by the experience. It's a sporting competition, not a support group.

That's good. Spelling mistake lends a real authentic feel.

There was some pretty good viewing post match. A crier, a sooky lala spitter, the Al Hilal support staff angrily pushing "away" the wanderers players... who already were moving away... from the spitter trying to rough them. There was grand poobah consoling the prince, a man of such wisdom.

Add to that the match funnies - the sick as disco going on in the Wanderers' penalty box, the 3 blatant penalties waved away because the ref was too traumy from being milked by Fred (Cheers Brazil).

But laugh of the night (moorning... yikes) has to be the cool calm collected studio crossing over... ever so normally... to.... *Church St fukn sick bro flare city fuk yeah!* :lol:
