Quick Q on Norwood Oval.

I see on Google maps that there's a grassy area on the northern side. Are they grassing up terraces close to the scoreboard? Maybe Coopers Hill MkII? Hope so! A cheap high amenity investment. Build in a bar under the scoreboard ala Adelaide Oval and the Parade would be rocking in all corners.

That little area you saw is a kiddies play area with fake turf on it, when a home game is on they stick an inflatable castle there along with face painters and other stuff.

One of the <insert sponsor> Family Friendly areas. No booze, no swearing etc There's a seated one on the outer wing between the oval and the school IIRC. I don't use them so I could be wrong.

I always found the family friendly areas useful in that they had the effect of concentrating the attendance on the other areas of the ground, improving the atmosphere.

Brave effort by Norwood, just going down to East Fremantle reserves at AAMI stadium.

Better luck next year, hopefully they give the SANFL teams an easier draw, perhaps a first up game against the TFL premiers.

East Freo had home ground advantage, football park being empty and all.

Should have played it at the Parade, I flicked over on FoxFooty and it looked terrible with what amounted to a crowd only on the camera(members) side of Footy Park.

I agree, it would have looked a lot better. But I can understand why it's at AAMI. Not that it would have pulled much of a crowd at the Parade either given it was pissing down with rain, and probably f***ing cold as well. I was in Adelaide over the weekend, it was bloody freezing over there.

Well it's a competition funded by cable, for cable. They'd probably want a venue with suitable media facilities. The boxes used by ABC at local venues are povo.

Port Melbourne V West Adelaide, standalone fixture at the MCG. Gold. Worth watching, just to hear the West Adelaide bogans voices bounce off the stands.

Taking the brand national.
