There are 5 NRL clubs that play in Western Sydney and annual attendance is around 800k which is about 10 times what GWS are drawing a home. Penrith are only a small part of League following in the west. You have to add the fans of clubs in the eastern half of the city who have moved out there for cheaper housing. As an example 40% of Souths members live in Western Sydney.

The region has had a century of League, Union and sokkah.
The region fails to continually attract 20 k's per match to the sports that it loves.
A blow in sport that it despises won't be bought by marketing.
GWS will not succeed in western Sydney.
