I reckon they could get, oh, 20,000 players or so. Y'know, if they worked on it.

We just need Nines to make a comeback and it could be the mother of all cripple fights.
We need him to start the topic....AFL better off because of dick measuring contests.

In the battle of the "near inner south west" and "west central" regions of Sydney the "near inner south west" Bulldogs won over the "west central" Eels 20-16. Go Bulldogs!

Seems everyone wants to be part of the west these days. ;)

Why did they play that fixture on a Thursday? It's one of the biggest drawcards of the season

With the Waratahs playing in Sydney on Friday night and the Big Blue in Sydney on Saturday night did the NRL not want to compete?

Those games are on the far side of the Iconic Anzac Bridge that divides East from West. And as St Jim says, Sunday would work and another NRL game should have been shifted to Thursday. Is it Ch9?

I don't know what days the games have been on but a quick look at the Parramatta v Canterbury crowds at ANZ over the last 10 years showed attendances between 25,000 and 31,000. Do you think the winning start for Parramatta plus early season game would have boosted the crowd from those levels to 40,000?

PS. Some double headers got bigger crowds.

And would have had half the TV audience.

See, I can make unsubstantiated guesses too.
