From the SANFL Website....

SANFL FANS ANSWER THE CALL
The final round of the League home and away season attracted 9395 fans, bringing up the total
attendance this season to 276,583 – an average of 3073 spectators per match.
Football & Corporate Operations Chief Officer Darren Chandler tonight thanked all
SANFL fans for their support. "Attendance at SANFL matches this year has been
very impressive, particularly given the wet weather we have experienced," Mr Chandler said.
"Our 2010 catchcry has been ‘Your Tribe Is Calling’ and these figures show that
our League football fans have answered the call. We are now looking forward to
a spectacular SANFL 'be active' Finals Series and we anticipate 15,000
to 20,000 fans at AAMI Stadium next week for the Elimination and Qualifying Final double-header."
There were 16 matches in 2010 that had crowds of more than 4000 (13 matches in 2009).
The highest-attended match was Round 5’s clash between Norwood and Port, witnessed
by 6665 spectators. Norwood had the highest club home game attendance of the season,
with an average 4198 spectators attending games at Coopers Stadium. Glenelg was a close second,
with an average 4191 fans turning up to Gliderol Stadium for home games.

They play all finals at AAMI? Why not move them to the suburban grounds? 11k at AAMI would have been shithouse.....like a Port home game.

Re: SANFL 2010
There was about 11,700 for the Semi Finals of the WAFL at Claremont and East Fremantle Ovals.
It would have been a long time that there had been more at a WAFL Semi Final series than at a SANFL.
Haven't got the crowd from last Saturday, but estimates put the crowd at 10,000.

It's just the SANFL wanting to preserve the event status for fans and players. These games used to be played at Adelaide Oval where 10,000+ is okay.Rob wrote:They play all finals at AAMI? Why not move them to the suburban grounds? 11k at AAMI would have been shithouse.....like a Port home game.
Also if the games went to suburban grounds you'd need all of them capable of hosting them to ensure home ground advantage doesn't go to a minority of teams. That's a problem because grounds like Unley are just utterly sh*t.
In an ideal future we'd have as many finals as possible at suburban grounds under lights, where 10,000+ per game is a reasonable expectation considering the appetite for local night footy in Adelaide.

The Advertiser did an audit when the SANFL were looking at adapting the WA model and the biggest obstacle is the media facilities.yob wrote:It's just the SANFL wanting to preserve the event status for fans and players. For Rob's benefit, the media facilities at SANFL grounds are a disgrace and about a quarter of the size of similar facilites in WA. For example at Prospect, ABC have an open air broadcasting position that is simply at the back of the stand.
All of the media facilities are Rushton Park shitness, which is the worst in the WAFL.

Re: SANFL 2010
Probably the Redlegs, if the size of the Torrens injury list is to be believed. God, anyone but Centrals:( Norwood took em close in the minor round, if they made the biggun, could they take it that extra step and lift the TS Hill? They'd have to beat the Eagles whilst losing no major players to injury...I think I might head out to Footy Park on Sunday to find out.yob wrote:So Centrals to beat either Norwood or WWT.
