How does a club abandon its fans? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Or did the Force actively ignore the will of their fans? I don't understand the title of this thread as it is framed.

In any event the phenomenon of fans moving away after a hyped start to its existence is not uncommon in the modern era. Happens acorss all codes.

Acutally, it's my blunder. The original article was about the Farce possibly relocating to Melbourne if they did not get a stadium upgrade. Fat chance of that eventuating. The article that started this thread said the Farce would lose $2.8m in 2009. Last year's annual report said Rugby WA lost around $800k, a similar position to 2010. Even if crowds are down, that sounds like some good belt tightening.

Are you serious?

I can think of a number of ways a club can/has abandonned it's fans.

OK, so I've already won because you mentioned Clive.

At the head of the queue are privately run clubs.
Lots of example across the board.
Even if you were serious just too many to mention.

But *you* haven't mentioned any...

And certainly nothing about how the Force abandoned their fans; which is why you started this thread.

And that's why I say you're not interested in a serious discussion.

Pfft.

I'm not lying when I say that there have been times when I was convinced it was someone else. Perhaps Cam keeping things lively for the sake of page views.

But then you need to remember how thick the average person is and remember that 50% of people are dumber than that. Somewhere down in the single digit percentile range we get nines. We can't all be bankers and lawyers. Someone has to clean the toilets.

A bit like the anti-AFL bloggers harping on about GWS Giants attendances!
