Census data does not reveal how many Australians were conceived in a Holden Monaro, but at least three have been named after the much-loved Australian car, including Cai Monaro Bruyn, 4.

''About two weeks before Cai was born, we were driving down to the Cooma Monaro Motorfest and our Monaro left the road,'' said Cai's mother, Jodie Bruyn. ''Had he been born in the Monaro on the Monaro Highway, he would have been called Monaro, instead of Cai.''

Ms Bruyn loves the sporty coupe and sedan in production from 1968 to 1977, and again from 2001 to 2005, but it's her tow-truck driver husband John who is the real aficionado. For their nuptials, he slipped a custom-made Monaro ring on to her finger. His wedding outfit was completed by Monaro socks, tie and watch. ''I've always come second to the Monaro, which I don't mind,'' she said. ''It's not a problem, it's a car.''

I hope they can afford the counselling their kids are going to need as they grow up...

What really annoys me about these idiots is - if they were so in love with the word Monaro why don't they change their OWN name, instead of inflicting it on their children?

Would young Ca's middle name be pronounced "Mon-air-o" or "Mon-ah-ro"

well lay it on us brother, we be loving laughing at the Aussie Bogue and its 'inventiveness' as it seeks to stand out from the crowd at Westfield by lumbering its numerous offspring with increasingly bizarre monikers:)
God I can't believe these people vote( a real worry of mine considering the current election campaign:( )
