What's the Capacity of Leederville and why did Subi move there?

Capacity would be around 15-16,000...probably 20,000 if everybody stood.

Subiaco moved there because they were only getting 1500 people a week at a 43,000 seat facility, AFL wanted more flexibility with the AFL draw.

Since Subiaco have left the sh*t hole, their crowds have gone up. They still have tenancy rights till 2014 I think which allows them to sell 500 tickets a match, they have a club room still at Subi Oval and at Medibank, still have their own Subiaco Members area allocation during finals at Subiaco Oval (the only club that has that).

Note its only a 15 minute walk from Leederville Oval to Subiaco Oval...

The last home game for West Perth at Leederville against Subiaco saw 22,000 at the ground .

Subiaco was basically forced to move by the AFL because of the pressures of having two AFL teams but it's a decidely better arrangement for all .WCE used to train at Leederville so it can be thought of as a swap .

Leederville mostly likely after redevelopment holds less than the 22,000 that turned up that day.

This weeks crowds

Peel v Claremont - 1181
Est Freo v Est Perth - 1564
Subi v Swan - 1881
Wst Perth v Perth - 1839

Probably out of finals contention now, but its good to still be mathematically a chance this late into the season. Everything going well we should do ok next season if we keep our players.

Egan wrote:Yob if the crowds had not doubled, you wouldn't have got the government investment that Peel got (which it needs to stay competitive) and they would have just sold Claremont Oval off (the entire ground...not just the embankments). East Freo are contemplating moving back to Freo Oval because the fans are staying away from the dilipadated facilities.

Its now $15 for an Adult $12 Concession to get into the WAFL, so clubs are getting a decent wack of revenue from the ticket sales at the gate.

Going to be one of the all time low WAFL GF crowds this weekend.....Claremont v Subiaco. They have about 28 supporters between them.

It's like the North Melbourne and Melbourne of the WAFL.

Subi's regular season crowds have increased significantly over the last ten years. A big clash at Medibank will draw 3000+

Im not heading to the game this Sunday, seen enough Subi v Claremont GF's to last a lifetime. Will be lucky to get 3000 Claremont fans there...

WA just doesn't give a sh*t about Subi or Claremont.

Still was a lot more than the Sydney rugby union GF, that looked like it was played at Concord in front of about 2000 people. Fox Sports even had a report on it, f**k knows why given they didn't report the VFL or WAFL GF results. Sydney-centric wankers.
