a link to pics of Covernty City FC's 3/4 completed stadium to replace Highfield Rd.

I think it looks v.similar to Reading's Madjeski Stadium or Southampton's St Marys...either way just another one of the new Bowls.

Anyone have thoughts on the UK's Bowl trend?

They are economical and easy to manage (I assume) but devoid of character.

Agree with BSpud that the only plus is that because they're completely enclosed and roofed the atmosphere stays inside the ground. Could do with some safe terracing, though...

I loved watching british football on TV, not just for the matches but also to see the differences in stadiums, the old style character of the stands, the variety of stands at a single ground. Now the stadium's are just mass produced, sterile, boring stadiums. No character whatsoever.

yeah but 100 years ago i bet people where moaning about all these new football grounds having stands built and no being able to stand on vast grass banks anymore.

also with bowl stadiums you can't see outside the ground...eg highbury, you can see a house when a corner is being take at the north bank end of the ground....now.who lives in that house, it's bugged me for years and why NIKE haven't painted a big tick on the side of it, cos it's prime advertising space

Ah I know this house well. I wonder what the owner thinks of the move next season?

sad but true

At least our home ground Goodison Park still has character compared to many modern stadiums, with its three-tiered main stand and a church in the corner of the ground.

That's why they're always talking about moving to a new ground Highbury also has that kind of character (until about about a year from now). How long before Goodison becomes history?

Absolute replica of St Mary's and Walker's Stadium. Yawn!

it's different to st marys and the walker, due to the simple fact that theres a two tier down one of the touchlines.it's more like the madjaski stadium in reading
