I remember the local commentators quoting that figure towards the end of that match.

btw . . . I believe Telstra Dome now holds the World Record for a rugby sevens final of over 50,000 achieved during the 2006 commie games.

Surely this one is the next to go!!

When it does(Dec26 2006),ill make it a World Record considering the dodgy and unreliable(ie non existent) figures that come from Eden Gardens.

Agree - whilst some years back the Indian cricket authorities claimed crowd estimates of up to 100,000 at Eden Gardens and 80,000 at Mumbai, these crowds were never actually counted (no turnstyles) and nothing more than rough estimates. It now turns out these were apparently nothing more than very rough and exaggerated guesses. After more careful measurements, Eden Gardens capacity is now put at only 70,000, and apparently never held over 80,000, whilst Mumbai has 55,000 and was never any more than 60,000.

The 90,800 second day crowd at the MCG 5th test 1961 is therefore still the world record single day crowd record for any cricket. Another record that could be under threat is the overall test attendance of #351,000 for the 5th test in 1937 at the MCG.

There wasn't an opener between the Roar and SFC in Brissy last year.

But the largest crowd Qld got last year was 23,142 v Sydney at the Roar's 3rd home game.

the Roar beat the record on the Sunday 3.00pm match on the opening weekend. It was a 20k crowd, but Sydney then get 25k to the 5.00pm match. Then beaten again near the end of the season when Sydney hosted Adelaide and beaten this year for the 1st game at docklands.
