It'd presumably bring the pitch length from 136m to 126m - just beyond the FIFA recommended 125m. That's enough.

Responsibility given to Infrastructure NSW instead of Minister Ayres.

So, originally the NSW Government were going to demolish ANZ Stadium and build a brand-new world-class rectangular stadium.
Then they decided to scale it back and instead do a major redevelopment, again, into a world-class rectangular stadium. (reducing its capacity from 83,000 to 70,000.
Now, the government have scrapped it altogether.

Positives:
- Sydney will continue to have a 83,000-capacity stadium which can host big events like the NRL Grand Final.
- Sydney won't be left without a major 'rectangular stadium' for a period of 2+ years (when both ANZ and the SFS are being completed).
- I guess it can host AFL and cricket if they really want to
Negatives:
- ANZ continues to be an average (at best) venue for rectangular sports.
- ANZ continues to be an average (at best) venue for oval sports.
- Sydney won't have a modern world-class stadium able to host major events.
- NRL fans will have to continue to put up with 10,000 crowds at a 83,000 soulless stadium.

ANZ Stadium is no more. Name has been changed back to Stadium Australia. Wonder if they'll be able to find a new commercial naming rights partner??
