Another Upgrade for Aurora Stadium.
Federal Minister Anthony Albanese announced this morning that the Federal Government is giving "up to $4M" towards the cost of another upgrade to Aurora Stadium. The project includes a new stand that will provide 2,125 extra seats bringing the seating capacity to 13.875. Council is to tip in $0.5M from the insurance funds they received from the heritage stand that burnt down last year. Now all that is required if for the state government to find another $2.5M so that the work can go ahead. It is interesting to note that once this project is complete Launceston Council will have contributed $3M towards the $32M cost of the venue,

In one of the most marginal seats in Australia Aurora Stadium has done wonderfully well.Egan wrote:Town of Vincent contributed 6 million to MES...half of the total cost!. Geelong, Rushton Park, MES many of these minor venues have to have multiple layers of funding commitments from different bodies. Local council have to be on the table as well as state, federal, AFL etc etc.gyfox wrote:In one of the most marginal seats in Australia Aurora Stadium has done wonderfully well.

Tas state budget released last week allows for upgrades to York Park (capacity) and Bellerive Oval (lights, as previously mentioned).
And a minor Austadiums' exclusive, both of those venues will be nominated as the home grounds in Tasmania United FC's A-League bid - which is happening on Tuesday
A-League discussion should go here to avoid getting off topic!
