Seems astonishing that the new Northern Stand is planned to be completed by the time of the next Sydney Test - just 11 months away. Looking at the construction site on the SCG web-cam, it appears that they're still building the foundations...

I'm with you Boba - even allowing for Xmas/New Year slow down, there has been little accomplished in last 3 months.

I drove past today and the crane is still the only visible object of construction.
Are they sure it'll be finished by the Ashes test? They've been at it for over a year now.
Slowest. Stand construction. Ever.
Look at the progress Adelaide has made in the same time frame.

Surely the foundations are the slowest bit. Once they are down and set it should be a relatively simple process to raise the rest of the stand in 11 months?

There was a lot of services to deal with in the northern stand high voltage, fire, ground services like watering infrastructure, main computer rooms etc which had to be delt with as well as shut down during the cricket season.. All the in ground works are complete they go as far back as the SFS to allow for underground OB vans future connections identified in the masterplan and main kitchens etc. The upper stands will go up quickly in comparison. There was alot of in ground works for Adelaide which took quite abit of time as well, but it has a lot better access to make this work easier to complete.

And the new video screen looks like its in place too. Still need to finish off the surroundings, but I think its planned to be operational for the AFL season (Swans' first home game is this Sat).

I saw the report, it was just a few more details about the scg and as site after the stand works are completed. Some new pictures of the already announced grand plan including a huge video screen the length of allianz stadium to be the new facade and a mesh translucent roof to enclose the venue.
