Arguably the best playing surface of any ground in country Australia, Lavington is fantastic for players, but leaves the spectator behind. The ground was taken over by Albury City Council a few years ago, whilst the neighbouring Panthers club has closed down. Car parking since the split has become a major local issue, with Council opening a paddock next to the ground to provide ample parking. This was tested and worked well for the 2014 A League game, but hasn't been tested in wet weather. If you go to "Lavvy", unless you are one of the lucky 1200 that can secure a grandstand seat, expect to be exposed to the elements. 43 degrees in February - expect heat stroke. 5 degrees in July, expect wind, rain and possibly frostbite. The ground is in a beautiful location 9km from Albury, but that location up on the hill in Hamilton Valley leaves it totally exposed to the weather, with little or no chance of finding shelter. Seating, apart from the grandstand, is basically BYO deckchair or blanket on grass banks. The ground is too far out of town, and as a spectator you always seem a bit too far from the action. For major events, buses are often run from Albury to the ground, but if you are in your car looking for it, you may need to set your GPS.

Albury/Wodonga's biggest venue. It's way out of town, would be hard to get to by public transport (bus, when available). Car access good but you'd have to ask directions if from out-of-town. The western end of the ground has a good grandstand with nice facilities (dressing rooms, a bar, etc) and a terraced area with a bar. The rest of the ground is basically flat or a grass embankment. For big events marquees are placed at the eastern end. The view is OK for the oval sports like AFL and cricket but for soccer or league you are a long way from the action. The big events are the occasional NRL or AFL trial game and the Ovens and Murray Football League Grand Final which usually pulls 10-15k crowds. Overall, not the best, but it is the top venue on the border so you have to put up with it. Currently owned by the Penrith Panthers who bought the adjacent Sports Club.
