The KGV Oval was developed in 1957 and has been improved over the years by the Glenorchy City Council to provide a first class playing venue for Australian Rules Football. The playing surface is around the same size as the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It has seating for around 1,500 people under cover in two grandstands and a total capacity of around 20,000. A new record attendance was set in April 2011 when Glenorchy played Clarence in the season opener in front of 8,480 - a figure which included paying customers only, not children and members.
