Lancaster Park (formerly AMI Stadium & Jade Stadium) is currently closed due to damage caused by the Christchurch earthquakes in 2011. At this stage the future of the venue is unknown due to the significant damage caused. A temporary 20,000-seat stadium at Rugby League Park has been constructed to host sporting events in Christchurch for the foreseeable future.
AMI Stadium, is Christchurch's premier outdoor sporting and entertainment venue located within walking distance of the central city. The 43,000-seat venue is home to the Canterbury Crusaders Super Rugby team and each year hosts New Zealand's famous All Blacks rugby team and national cricket team. The ground was originally known as Lancaster Park and was founded in 1880. Since that time a remarkable variety of sporting activities and events have taken place.

AMI Stadium has undergone significant change since 2000 with the new three-level Western Grandstand featuring 17,000 seats opening in 2002 and more recently the Eastern Grandstand which was completed in 2010, also with three levels and corporate facilities, increasing the total capacity of the stadium from 36,000 to 43,000 in preperation for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
