NEW: Update Info for this Stadium >>
|
South Australia's Hindmarsh Stadium was completely rebuilt for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The main grandstand was upgraded and all terraces surrounding the ground were replaced with uncovered seating. This now makes the Hindmarsh an all-seater stadium at the cost of $27 million. The capacity of the stadium is around 16,500 including seating for around 15,000. An extra 5,000 temporary seats were added for the Olympic Soccer which was played at the venue in 2000 for the Sydney Olympics.
Hindmarsh Stadium is the home of soccer in South Australia, hosting A-League side Adelaide United, who hold the ground record since the 2000 Olympics of 16,558. The stadium is managed and operated by the South Australian Soccer Federation. Apart from the stadium's dedication to all things soccer, great views of Adelaide city can also be seen from the top tier of the new stand. The venue is regarded as one of the best purpose-built soccer venues in Australia.
