Virgin Australia Stadium is a 12,000 capacity venue situated in the Queensland town of Mackay. The venue was funded by the Australian Federal Government at a cost of $11.3 million and officially opened by Hon Treasurer/Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan on Saturday 20th August 2011.
The venue includes an impressive main grandstand which includes seating for around 1,600 spectators as well 6 internal & 12 external corporate boxes, corporate area and 4 full sized team dressing rooms. The field is well lit with 1000 lux lighting and there is also a 6x4 metre electronic scoreboard.
Virgin Australia Stadium is set to host future NRL trial games while local sides Mackay Cutters RLC and Whitsunday Miners FC call the venue home.
