Built at the 1956 Olympic Games Athletes Village as a training venue for the Melbourne Games, the venue known simply as Olympic Village is home of Heidelberg United in the Victorian Premier League. The venue was used as the official warm-up venue for the Olympics but is now a venue mainly used for soccer.
The ground has a main grandstand with seating for 1,000 as well as undercover standing room. Opposite this is another smaller grandstand with further undercover standing room. Both stands have grass hills on either side, however there is no spectator room behind each of the goals. One end contains player facilities while the other has a fence with advertising and the scoreboard. The original athletics track is still in tact however in poor condition. The total capacity of the ground is estimated at around 12,000.
