Unley Oval (now officially known as Commander Centre Oval) is the home ground of SANFL side Sturt Football Club. The club moved away from the ground to Adelaide Oval in 1986 under the SANFL's ground rationalisation program. Negotiations with the Unley City Council in 1997 regarding a return to Unley Oval to play league football were successful and the council agreed to Sturt playing 4 games there from 1998. The first game back at Sturt's traditional home ground attracted a sell-out crowd on Easter Saturday. The club now plays all of its home games at Unley. The ground includes two main grandstands, one of which holds around 1,500 fans with the other 500.
