Wigan Oval

Unley Oval, commercially known as Wigan Oval, is the home ground of SANFL side Sturt Football Club. The club moved away from the ground to Adelaide Oval in 1986 under the SANFL's ground rationalisation program. Negotiations with the Unley City Council in 1997 regarding a return to Unley Oval to play league football were successful and the council agreed to Sturt playing 4 games there from 1998. The first game back at Sturt's traditional home ground attracted a sell-out crowd on Easter Saturday. The club now plays all of its home games at Unley. It includes two main grandstands, one of which holds around 1,500 fans with the other 500, and a total capacity of around 10,000. The ground had an upgrade to player and spectator facilities in recent years, allowing it to host AFL pre-season and AFLW matches. Stage 2 of the upgrade is planned for the near future.
