Formerly known as Lakeside Oval and home of the South Melbourne VFL Football Club, this arena was revamped in 1995 and became the Bob Jane Stadium. Currently with a 14,000 capacity, the Bob Jane Stadium is specially designed for soccer with one major grandstand and terraces surrounding the rest of the ground.

There are further plans to re-develop the stadium and build a new grandstand. At the stadium today, one of the old stands from the former arena still remains, however it isn't open to the public as it is so unsafe. And the functions building from the former ground was done-up and joined to the new grandstand. Bob Jane Stadium originally had a capacity of 18,000 when it opened as a Soccer stadium with around 3,500 seats in the main grandstand and standing room in the terraces around the ground. Now, seats have been added in most of the terraces, to reduce the capacity to around 14,000.

Below are photos of the transformation from Lakeside oval to Bob Jane Stadium as it is today. The first game at the re-developed stadium was in front of a sell-out crowd for a South Melbourne Soccer Club home game.
