»Sydney Stadium

austadiums.com

The Sydney Stadium was home of boxing in Australia before it was bulldozed for a railway line in the early 1980s.This 17,000 capacity "tin-shed" is best remembered for the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship in 1907 between Tommy Burns and Jack Johnson. Johnson became the first black heavyweight champion of the World from this fight. It is still the only time that boxings grand prize has been held in Australia, this certainly places the Sydney Stadium in history because of the event.
