| The Melbourne Olympic Velodrome
(or Olympic Park Velodrome) was
used for cycling events during the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. It had a main grandstand on one side with seating
on the other with an estimated capacity of between over 10,000. The venue
was demolished in 1972.

In the above photo taken in 1956, the ground on the far
left side is the No. 2 Sports Ground at Olympic Park when it was first
constructed. Next to it is the velodrome which is also no longer there,
above that is the main arena (Olympic Park Stadium), which has been redeveloped further and is
still in use today, and above that is the Melbourne Olympic Pool (now
the Lexus Centre and formally the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment
Centre).
