Middle Park was home to South Melbourne Soccer Club since its establishment back in 1959. The ground played host to over 1,000 memorable matches, including over 450 National Soccer League encounters. South Melbourne's last home game at Middle Park was on Sunday, 23 October 1994 where it recorded a fairy-tale 4-1 victory over arch-rivals, Heidelberg United.

The ground had one main grandstand which stretched the whole wing, the rest of the ground was surrounded by terraces.

The ground was then bulldozed to make way for the Albert Park Grand Prix Track which hosts the Australian F1 Grand Prix. South Melbourne Soccer Club now plays their home games at Bob Jane Stadium.
