| Details on
the next redevelopment will be available shortly. Current
Status:
The initial redevelopment of Members Equity Stadium has now been
completed. However there are plans to further develop of the ground pending
the decision of Australia's new Super 14 Rugby team.
Overview:
The redevelopment of
Members Equity Stadium (formally known as Perth Oval) heralds the start of
an exciting new era for soccer in Western Australia. The new stadium, which
will also cater for other rectangular sports, has backing from the Town of
Vincent, which is investing $4.5 million in the project with a further $6
million coming from the State Government.
The new ground will
have a capacity of 18,450 and Allia Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Perth
Glory, will contribute $400,000 each year for 20 years and an extra $80,000
each year into a reserve fund for oval repairs and maintenance, as well as
$1.2 million worth of equipment.
Benefits for
supporters will include a relocated Shed closer to the action, more
comfortable seating around the ground and modern facilities such as toilets.
For members and corporate supporters the new ground promises state of the
art function rooms and viewing areas. The result for soccer fans will be
tremendous with a modern, comfortable stadium that will provide fans the
environment they deserve. There will also be great facilities for sponsors
and corporate supporters and all levels of membership.
This is a stadium
which will be able to cater for the great expansion of interest to be seen
in soccer as the game develops. Visually the most striking aspect of the
ground will be its closeness to the pitch. This will bring a very European
style to the ground with a tremendous atmosphere. Public open spaces behind
the Eastern Stand will give the ground a parkland feel and in the main
grandstand there will modern function rooms, offices and a modern facility
for the players including new dressing rooms.
The Family Stand will
now be at the Southern End of the ground with seating available for GA
prices on a first come, first served basis. In a first for the club there
will also be reserved seating available at a general admission price. Fans
will be able to choose between Champions, Premiers and First Division
seating, depending upon its location. The First Division seating will also
be available at concession and children’s rates.
The new multipurpose
stadium is the result of a long and complex process involving contributions
from State and local government as well as the club and other sports. Work
by John Holland Pty Ltd is well underway and said the ground is expected to
be available in December.
