Coopers Stadium is the home of soccer in South Australia, hosting A-League side Adelaide United, who hold the ground attendance record (since the 2000 Olympics) of 16,558. The stadium is operated by the Adelaide Entertainments Corporation which also operates the neighbouring Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Hindmarsh Stadium, as it was known then, was redeveloped for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games at a cost of $27 million. The main grandstand was upgraded and the three terraces surrounding the ground were replaced with new grandstands. An extra 5,000 temporary seats were used during the Olympic Soccer, increasing the capacity to around 20,000.
South Australian brewer Coopers purchased the naming rights to Hindmarsh Stadium in mid-2013 for five years which resulted in two Adelaide venues having the same name – the other venue being Norwood Oval.
