Members Equity Stadium Funding Indefinite

The extra funding request by the Western Force to the State Government is up in the air after Ron Alexander, the Director General of the WA Department of Sport and Recreation, stated that there was no concrete time-frame for the decision on whether extra funding was allocated or not.

The venue's redevelopment is now up in the air after the Western Force decided to stay at Subiaco Oval for the next three years. "We have no concrete timeframes as Rugby have committed to playing at Subiaco Oval for the next three years".

Rugby's decision for extra funding was partly due to the better then expected response to the new Super 14 team. "They have membership approaching 20,000 and have stated that they now don't want to go to a 22,000 seat venue"

Despite this, Alexander suggested that the redevelopment was not going to be designed specifically for first year hype at the venue.

"Five years ago Perth Glory were getting crowds of 18,000 and now they are getting crowds of 7-8,000...it's like building a stadium in the honeymoon period"
