Looks like they flogged them all too. Biggest Wanderers crowd for the ACL so far. Full house?
17,093.

Cockerill was saying that GE's owners paid for 1k fans to come from China. Hard to believe.

EDIT: Club is saying the report is nonsense and the writer of the article has "form".

Adelaide United is the latest A-League club to fall into financial difficulties with revelations emerging the club is unprofitable and behind on payments.

Wow, stop the presses. What a revelation!

There's enough bullshit markers in the article that no official response from the club is needed.

For one, the only 3 ways his assertions re: Utrecht could have been sourced are 1) plagiarising a local source, 2) pulling it out of his anus, 3) from hearsay/internet land.

Article reads like he opened someone's super statement then let himself loose in the wonderful world of confirmation bias.

The $200k loan for the video screen was granted in March 2008. It would be interesting to know the terms of the loan. The only mention in the approval is that it had to be paid back into the Grahame Park sinking fund.

I think they'll pay it, the only concern is that you don't 'make arrangements' if you can pay within terms. What else are they 'making arrangements' on? Tax? Super?

Cashflows of most sporting clubs are strained out of season, AFL included. You're not selling tickets to pre season training, but you're still paying wages.

Most of these financial d-day moments are the journalists timing the troughs in the cycle trying to make themselves famous.

Or angry creditors doing their debtor calls via fairfax.

Charlesworth says bills will be paid, he is committed to the long term, the Mariners are in a better position financially but the club is still losing $1m pa.

I've only just noticed it, but the St Albans Saints v Perth Glory @ Knights Stadium will substitute for the long-awaited Melbourne Knights v Perth Glory grudge match.

Could be ugly

Reports are they are waiting for us at Sunshine.

Not many glory fans are going over, so they will be heavily outnumbered. Won't be surprised if it turns ugly...

Note St.Albans fans are reportedly the ones that caused most of the issues in that fateful match at Knights Stadium...
