Funny - p.75 has the tables and it indicates that total club registrations are <30,000 in NSW/ACT. Auskick is ~40,000, School programs about 60,000. A total of about 130,000 sounds impressive, but the amount of 'casual' involvement here is massive.

Surely registration with a club is the actual apples vs apples test - football doesn't count futsal, summer sixes, school competitions, fives centres, beach soccer etc., and if they did the numbers would be simply ridiculous - in any given year I'd be counted on at least two, possibly three fronts.

It was nice of Hawthorn to allow 22 spectators from GWS to come on to the field and experience what it's like to be near an AFL game.

Thereby halving the GWS crowd support.

And it was a training session, not a game.

There is something to be said for relocating a club. Problem is the fans don;t want it to happen understandably.

There's still the option of a Brisbane/Fitzroy style merge-ocation. Gold Coast Kangaroos and Greater Western Sydney Demons. And further to that it could be like the proposed North Melbourne / Fitzroy merger (the team called North Melbourne, wearing blue and white, called the Kangaroos, and with Alastair Lynch). That'd leave us with Gold Coast Suns and GWS Giants, and two less crud buckets in Melbourne.

No, just bringing facts into the arguments.

Numerous articles of GWS stating their dissapointment in their crowd figures thus far. So Evangelical statements and being all defensive is not actually what your evangelical god is doing...

And I follow the WAFL and not the Football State League, so not sure what you are on about in trying to have a dig at me

gyfox kindly found figures for junior registrations in West Sydney, Qld, etc. Assuming Brisbane = 2/3 of Qld totals, then participation in RL in WS is a little lower than in Brisbane. Not sure what Nines was on about with his list of attendances. But, hey, it keeps GWS as an active thread - like The Roar & other Blogs.

GWS is a success because the only NRL game played in Parkes got a crowd of 7514
