Even though Adelaide has twice as much to build for the next ashes they are putting Sydney to shame at the moment as far as construction goes.

Not quite true - SCG's new stand will be be ready for the Ashes Test in Jan 2014. Adelaide's construction will still be going as I understand it. Plus the SCG had much more significant demolition work to be done than Adelaide.

Let's just be thankful both grounds are getting much needed revamps!

South stand has to be done for AO otherwise temporary media facilities would be needed for the ashes...but both grounds are scheduled for ashes games, and they both want to be fully operational for them to start making $$$$$$.

As I understand it AO's scheduled completion isn't until March 2014. Adelaide has the second Test, which will start on 6 Dec 2013. I'm presuming the east stand will be more or less structurally finished by then, with just the fitout to be be completed between then and March the following year. Shame they didn't start construction six months earlier...

You would expect the lower bowl to be finished if the mcg construction is any indicator.

It appears that everything except the East Stand will be ready for the Ashes.

Not sent from the new iPhone or iPad mini.

As a SACA member when the new Members stand was opened - quite a few deficiencies were noted. The SMA sought & received permission to allocate some of their funds towards rectifying those deficiencies.

Step 1 - a toilet being installed at the southern end of the Members Bar...how did they forget that in the first place?

Am I right in thinking they're aiming for the northern end seating to be completed for this summer's cricket season, for a ground capacity of 16,000?

This image is a couple of months old now, but it does give a really good indication of just how complete a redevelopment this project is...

you are correct on all counts. I don't have a figure for this summer's proposed capacity, but 16k sounds about right. SACA is certainly aiming for the Northern mound to be ready by November 2012. IIRC the workers are even putting in extra shifts to make up for time lost to inclement weather.

I hated that first picture - the perfectionist in me demanded I rectify the situation:)
Of note:
the Northern gates are getting a make over,
there is a second vertical Yellow structural member in place at the Southern Stand worksite.
the Northern mound is coming along very quickly and should be done by the end of the month(my prediction) :2cents:
No new pictures taken of the Eastern Stand - it is still a big hole in the ground. No visible change from earlier pics - the hole might be deeper, but without a theodolite I couldn't tell;) .
