Not surprised

The longer WA delays upgrading venues, the more prices increase.

An increase from $160M to $300M in less than six months is inflation of the highest order.

High inflation is an inevitable consequence of the restrictive IR policies of socialist Labor governments.

Especially ones of a liberal persuasion.

No, that's the inflation you get as a consequence of economic growth.

So Colin Barnett is presiding over unparalleled economic growth in WA. I wish!

Importance that the government are going to upgrade MES in the budget on Thursday...

$260 million - We better get a similar venue to Melbourne...

The new Perth Stadium will only go ahead if a World Cup comes to Australia - it won't. I hope they make it 35k (fat chance) with having the roof easily upgradeable. I want to go to a rectangular venue to watch Wallaby tests from now on.

Will be good for the Force in anycase. They've proven they can sustain the crowd even when they aren't performing.

Also good to try and get the Reds bid going.

Had a media alert come through my email saying that Gordon Tallis was going to a certain primary school. Don't think you could do much more, the Reds bid is going very well. The Force have also paid for the better lighting/extra capacity.

state gov budgets $80 million to boost it to 25,000..

http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/no-fu ... -vhu9.html

my post on another site..

Hohumm..In other words, just enough to deliver another insipid, uninspiring sports venue that just meets requirements and will probably constrain future growth within 10 years.

With S15 coming in next year, plus people already realizing how much better MES is than Subi for watching rugby - in spite of it being a very average facility - the Force are going to be like the eagles - more members than seats. 30,000 is a more realistic size - big enough to handle reasonable growth but without being too big

^ The same stand was going to cost $25 million 5 years ago when the Force rejected that redevelopment...

It seems the original plan is going to occur and they have thrown the Skilled Park style venue out the window...

my concern is that they will start off with the new stand but then the funds to complete the development will mysteriously disappear and we will still be left with a half-arsed stadium

What's your problem? NIB is a young people's brand, as is the A-League. Sport and health insurance have a push pull relationship - promoting the interests of one benefits the other. And NIB is expanding in to Perth.

I haven't seen someone as paranoid as you since doing snow cones in high school.

Sorry NIB Stadium is a pretty shocking name. I hope the naming rights were worth a decent sum of money.

Don't see how NIB Stadium is any worse (or better) than ME Bank Stadium.

EDIT: Other than the potential of Paul Harrogan-related advertisements. That's a concern - although surely NIB aren't that stupid.
