If there was a willy-wonka prize under my diet solo bottle cap to win an Australia day BBQ - the Aussie icon I'd most like to spend it with is Andrew Symonds.

Despite being black and born in England, this is one person who has become the ambassador for the white ocker yobbo culture that this country celebrates every January 26.

Furthermore, now that John Howard and Pauline Hanson are off the scene, Roy should be the custodian of when and when not to use that term of great Australian insult - 'un-Australian'.

1. It's Australian to go fishing. Un-Australian to have compulsory team meetings.

2. It's Australian to stick with ya mates - fellow test players and Australian league representatives. It's un-Australian to talk to non-test players. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/st ... 22,00.html

3. It's also very Australian to sledge. Un-Australian (indeed, monkey business) to be sledged.

4. It's Australian for an Australian to play for an Indian IPL team (denying young Indians the opportunity). It's un-Australian for a heap of sh*t to play one game for NSW and donate his match fee back to Otago Cricket for junior development.

I know that at the BBQ Roy would probably be taking side glances at the chicks (if they're up to the quality of Hayden's wife) and will definately deny autographs, drink too much, be boorish and wanky.

But the days of Australian cricketers being whitty, entertaining and classy raconteurs are long gone.

Australia day is all about cricket and BBQs. BBQs are all about meat. Cricket is now about meatheads.

I lost all respect for him when he said it was Un-Australian to tell Matt Hayden to retire

Jemaine: It doesn't matter what country someone's from, or what they look like, or the colour of their skin. It doesn't matter what they smell like, or that they spell words slightly differently...some would say, more correctly.

Sinjay: Yeah...

Jemaine: Let me finish. I'm a person. Bret's a person. You're a person. That person over there is a person. And each person deserves to be treated like a person.

Sinjay: That's a great speech. Too bad New Zealanders are a bunch of cocky a-holes descended from criminals and retarded monkeys.

Jemaine: No you're thinking of Australians

Bret: Yea thats Australians

If you want to have a listen:

http://austereo.castmetrix.net/podcast/ ... ymonds.mp3

Having listened to it - it's not that bad. In context, Symonds doesn't sound so bad. When you hear what Roy Slaven and HG are carrying on about, Symonds was just joining in on the banter.

Roy may have been drunk (obviously) but he was still more level headed than the MMM hosts.

Sorry Roy, now I've listened to the interview, I retract my previous comments.

Roy's been watching way too much Today Tonight. The official creators of the word, "UN-AUSTRALIAN".
