But hopefully not featuring a small, white guy.

Correct and I'm glad you think 90kg is small (unless you were talking about the ref).

Oh, I forgot to have a rant about the team kits. Australia and NZ persist with these "vees" that end at the sleeves. I like the old style vees that went up to the shoulder. The newer vees look like army chevrons. Not a fan. And another thing, the Kiwis should go back to wearing white shorts, PNG shouldn't have any white in their shirt.

Speaking of clothing, there were loads of unlicenced street vendors on O'Connell Street today outside Parramatta Stadium. Most were selling the national flags of Ireland and Tonga but a couple of big Tongan guys selling Tongan RL shirts. Nobody dared approach them to stop. My money is on them having rorted it from a previous Tongan RL tour.

It's a subjective small - I was a small white guy at NZ/Tonga last week.

I was looking at my Warriors/Auckland 1977 jersey yesterday and I was thinking the same thing about how the vees look decidedly sh*t. New Zealand should be wearing the white shorts with the jersey with the real vee. It's almost as bad as the abomination we wore at about the time of the 2000 world cup.

As long as NZ steer clear of what their cricketers were wearing then i'll be happy

 Did you go to the Great Barrier Reef while in Townsville?

Go to Morrabin for the best example of what the VFL early years of the AFL's stadiums where like in suburban Victoria. Victoria Park is good as well.

It's a shame Spud is in Melbourne so late in the year. I'd be intrigued about his impression of the city if he was there during aussie rules season

one thing i have noticed is the lack of coverage...coming from northern QLD and reading the local townsville paper & the courier mail, which had atleadt 2 RLWC08 pages... the melbourne tabloid paper i read this morning had very little, less that 1/4 of a page, the rest was taken upo eith melbourne cup & cricket.....the AGE did have a double page spread..but most of it was taken up with a layout of the potential teams...and only had a few coloum inches if write up about the game..

as for AFL.....i actually don't mind AFL....infact i'm going to the international rules game @ the G in friday night..(BUT I'M ONLY GOING BECAUSE IT'S AT THE MCG)

funny story about that............i have a healthy respect for things that could kill me while in the sea..sharks, box jelly fish...and all that....now i arrived in townsville on the monday and went right to the REEFHQ aqaurium, had a look at all the local "nasties"....gee'd myself up for a couple of day and said right, thats it,i'm going in the sea............so i head off towards townsville beach,on the way i buy a paper, the townsville bulletin, on the front page, "3.5M SALTIE PETROLLING BEACH BETWEEN TOWNSVILLE & MAGNETIC ISLAND......."....WELL F**K THAT I THOUGHT  and went for a swim in the pool the 1962 olympic swimming used to train in.. toobruk pool or something? either way it cost me $2.50

England's team is unchanged. Apparently Lee Smith will be fine. Hmmm. Hunt is in for Australia. Gidley gone with injury.

I'm really looking forward to Sunday.

Oh thats intense coverage compared to here...

There is more knowledge of the Perth Glory game on Sunday, than anything to do with the Rugby League World Cup. Which is hilarious

Yeah that's one of the reasons I asked, because there's just about been a media black-out of the RLWC down here! If they really promoted the game, considering it's Australia v England, they should be able to pull over 45k. Should be a good atmosphere though with 6k poms.
