Sydney FC can barely get 20000 yet 80000 turn up to watch another Mickey Mouse with a dame of of a player.
I wonder was Telstra full of young girls and gays that night because i can not see REAL sports fans going to see a loser like Beckham or does Sydney and Australia still think being English means your good at Football.

60k is a giant increase, Id put it down to the SFC v LAG game being an 'event' more than a sporting contest.

I better example of the band-wagoners is the AFL. The swans average is under 40k (no source), yet for their 'big blockbusters' at TS the crowds get uptp 70-80k.

before the SCG lost a large section to the renovation works, the average was about 30k, including regular 50k+ crowds at telstra.

but at telstra there are many many more GA tix available, and i suspect the regular crowds may be higher if they played there more often.

Honestly? Don't know and I barely care about finding out why anymore.

Just something we need to accept and move on with our lives.

Yes Telstra...er...ANZ Stadium was chock-a-block with good sorts that night. A whole lot more than usual for regular Sydney FC games.

If only I was on the turps :?

TBH for Test Match Cricket Sydney has the most consistent and non bandwagoning crowds in the country. You can almost guarantee nearly every year it will be close to capacity for the first 3 days and the ticket prices reflect the demand.

Hence the Bledsloie Cup is normally a sell-out but other Rugby Union games are not.

So what happend to the 100000 who turned up for the Wallabies parade in 1999 central Sydney or the 109000 at one of the best games ever(either code) between Australia and the All-Blacks in 2000 at Telstra or the big support the Lions got in 2001 and the 4 million who tuned in to watch England win the world cup in Sydney in 2003.
