Australians don't make too many nice beers.. which is why our shores our graced with a multitude of imported offerings...

What's the best drop brewed right here?

redback?
becks?
heineken?

i remember one year when i went to the seahawks AFC to watch the AFL grand final and they had 50 cent pots of eumundi..

it was great..

although the bar was situated right next to the mens toilet..

and the only time the eumundi tap flowed was when someone flushed the urinal..

I assume you've been sampling some of them.

If I cannot get a Resch's Draught I'm partial to a James Boag's Premium.

Resch's Real was available here in QLD for a short time. Unfortunately.. as a result.. Brisbane had to get sewrage installed.

When I was in NZ.. resch's pils was the cheapest beer you could buy.. $9.99 for a dozen...

i liked it.. initial water taste.. then 3 secs later.. massive headache/hangover after effects.. i liked the price.. the locals weren't big fans.. for some reason they preferred canterbury draught at $18 a dozen.

Was it the quality - or quantity?

Actually, I think all pale ale/beer is crap.

But cascade premium I like a lot.
The best with a (proper) meal (on the rare occasions I don't have a wine) is a Crownie.

After getting shitfaced in Cairns with a Finnish chick not that long ago she introduced me to a new love: cider.

A lot of great micro breweries in Perth. Can't say a favorite cos I like Lager, Ale and Wheat beers.

As for nationally distributed brews, I tend to choose Boags Premo and Hahn Premo.

From the common stock I prefer Boags Draught as most of the others a terrible (VB, Tooheys New, Swan Draught, Westend Draught, XXXX, etc).

The only non full strenght beers I'll drink are premiums like Little Creature Rogers and Redback light.

Current favs would be a brew from micro Brewery Feral brewing called Belgian White which is not unlike Hogarten. If ever in Perth, check out the Micro brewery at the old Swan Brewery. Their brews are only availible there and a fantastic.
