Is it expat Queenslander's now living in Melbourne that are back home on holiday? Or Victorian's now living in Brisbane? Maybe it's the association with Brisbane Norths or that half the side are made up of Bananabenders? Whatever the case I cannot believe how many people I have seen up here wearing Melbourne Storm jerseys and apparel. If anything it has been almost the same as the Broncos. Is the Storm the defacto 2nd Brisbane side? It has truly got me vexed! Can locals (or RL posters) fill me in whether this is just an unusual coincidence or if this is always the case.

Well the Storm did play up there on Sunday, so perhaps a number of the travelling Storm fans stayed up for a few days holiday.

Well, Storm fans would be thrashing their gear at the moment, while Broncos fans wouldnt.

Also. Their has always been alot of non-Victorian Storm fans. Usually because they just go for the team that one a Grand Final or because their team got kicked out of the comp and the new boys are the best bet.

Even after I made the initial post around a week ago I still kept on seeing Storm gear on a very regular daily basis. :?

I know in 1999 at the NRL GF a lot of people went for Melbourne over St George because they can't stand the Dragon and their fans raving on all the time about how great their club is. I even remember a final between Melbourne & Brisbane in Sydney (gotta love the NRL's vision for developing the game  ) & everyone cheered for the Storm. Even Andrew Voss the caller got a chuckle out of that, New South Welshmen cheering on "Tards". :?

There are a lot of expat Vics living in Queensland. Maybe they have gotten behind the Storm to keep some link with home? (Then again, they'd more than likely be wearing Richmond Essendon & Pies stuff etc etc, as in Melbourne RL is seen as decidedly 'alien'.)

JF

That's because this intense hate is a figment of the imagination from the supporters of a certain football club. In reality it doesn't really exist apart from the small microcosm in which it eminates out of which in itself is decidely smaller than what they think the bubble actually is.

It is a tad sickening the Vic bashing that goes on that forum, it has no historical base...its based "Oh its because they think they are the best".

But saying that, I am not complaining about Victorian Bashing...they just need to get better at giving them crap, its no fun the way they do it

Well said hot_dogma. Get a clue JF. Go and support "Fags FC" mate. Surely there comes a point in time where a call gets just a little bit old???
Sure you're not a "Tard" yourself considering you mention it day in day out?

Congrats JF

You have successfully caused a flame war, haven't had one of those for a while...and guess what it involves Victorians.

What a surprise

I would’ve supported Melbourne on the basis that I support any team that plays Brisbane and don’t have such a hatred for Melbourne. Wouldn’t the Broncos have been the most hated team by Sydneysiders in the NRL back in 1998? They were chock full of Queenslanders and rep players and were threatening to win the Sydney club competition every year for the foreseeable future.

I don’t think Vossy’s opinion was on the money on this occasion.
