I went to the Rl test the other week. The game was pretty good; the Aussies were great. (RL is better though watching from high up I reckon).
44000 turned up to plastic stadium. Man, is there a SERIOUS problem with Brisbane rugby league supporter culture. Me Choppies & Super Mario turned around to get simple "Aussie!!! Aussie!!!" chants going. 90% of the people in the Kangaroo Army (the chosen Australian supporters section) looked at us with a mixture of shock & confusion. They had never seen people like us before and did not understand why we were actually trying to animate them into cheering and barracking for their team.
Brisbane's rugby league population is made up of basically TV watchers. They may turn up to big games. But have NO IDEA as to how to support! All rather concerning to be brutally frank.
But at least unlike Sydney they bothered to turn up at all. So that is something.
Still I had an awesome time up in Vegas. So much so I'm considering moving up there.
After the test we sang karaoke until the wee hours. After that walking home pissed off my face I got a tad 'confused' whilst walking through the Botanic Gardens. A tad stress and totally lost, I lay down on the grass, only to be woken up for a possum sniffing my head.
