Thanks to Peterss who probably got this off another forum, the stadiums have been confirmed for the Asia Cup qualifiers and freakingly Perth has been given a game...I feel sorry for Adelaide they had a passionate caimpaign by all sectors of the public and media over there, and we had stuff all...yet we get the game

Oh well we may get to see a full strength Australian Team out here?

Forget Adelaide, what about Brisbane?!? There hasn't been a real Socceroos match (forget the NSL XI in 2000 against Paraguay) here since 1997!

Seems like the FFA are trying to help the game out in Perth and in Gosford. If Brisbane and Adelaide get some Asian Cup Finals warm-up friendlies in mid 2007 then I'll be satisfied, but if not, then it's a very weird choice. With semi-decent promotion and something resembling a full-strength team, we'd definitely get at least 20k at Lang Park. Perhaps even 30k+.

And, yes, they will most likely get first-choice teams. These are, afterall, on FIFA dates and are worthwhile competitive matches. Not certain about the Perth one though. It's a single midweek date for which clubs are only obliged to relase players two days beforehand, but we'll see.

Probably why they chose Perth, closer to Europe by a few hours...gives them a greater opportunity to get a full-strength side.

Will be interesting to see the Lebanon v Australia match at Gosford...I reckon they will sell the game out...especially if the Mariners win.

I do think they chose Perth to help the city out as well, also because we had a worthless international against Indonesia last year, didn't think it would be that soon.

Brisbane should get one ASAP to build on the hype...I think money paid a big part in who got the games...seems the bidding results was more to do with money then anything else...

In an ideal world, when travelling/scheduling/away team support wouldn't have to be taken into consideration, I'd like to have the three ACQs and three most important WCQs currently go to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Perth, Adelaide and possibly one or two other places can get the more 'minor' WCQs while friendlies are more flexible and up for grabs.

It would be nice to get some sort of pattern going in hosting rights, so everyone can know what to expect.

FFa has few excuses now. There will be a lot of internationals now that Australia is in the Asian Confederation. As Hiraldo says, we will wait and see for the next lot of venues.

I am surprised Gosford got a run. It is close to Sydney but then again they've had good support and they have a good facility.

Yeah i was at first, i thought it would be adelaide. But the more i think about the more i think its a good choice.
I think central coast is a much tougher market to crack than adelaide, the FFA can never be complacent there, so awarding them an international will promote the sport there and show the fans the love they need to continue to support the game.

Just checked on webjet using Emirates Airlines...

Perth - Dubai 11 hours 15mins - direct.

Brisbane - Dubai 16 hours 15mins - direct

Adelaide - Dubai 19 hours 30mins (don't fly direct to Adelaide, have to go via Perth)

Melbourne - Dubai 16 hours 15mins - direct

Sydney - Dubai 17 hours 15mins - direct

Dubai - London - 7 hours 30mins.

18 hours and 45mins they can get to Perth...thus they have 24 hours in Perth before they play...I think the game was played in Perth because of this reason and this reason only...our isolation finally has some benefits 8)

Perth - London 19 hours and 40 mins (about an hours stop over in Dubai)
Adelaide - London 26 hours and 5mins(quickest flight)
Brisbane - London 24 hours and 5mins
Sydney - London 22 hours and 45mins (direct flight, no stopovers)
Melbourne - London 23 hours (direct flight)

Thus when you have a game that you need a flight as quick as possible to get to an Australian City...Perth will beat Adelaide and Brisbane for a game mainly due to the time taken to get to those cities compared to Perth and if what Hiraldo mentioned is true(no doubt it is), is probably the very reason why Perth beat Adelaide (who they were competing with) if clubs will only release the players 2 days before the tie...

Otherwise I think clearly it would have been played in Brisbane or Adelaide...

If they wanted the best players to come out, definately Perth was the best city to go to, 5 hours extra on a long haul flight is substantial...

Thus Western Australians we have got the Socceroos due to isolation...thank god it gives us something...finally...

So now these events are not confirmed...

Thus Brisbane still has a second shot...

I'd much rather an Asian Cup tie than a pre-tournament friendly too. Seriously, a Socceroos competition match would kick arse at Lang Park.

I'd have Brisbane and Adelaide in place of Gosford and Sydney. Gosford IMO is more suited to a pre-tournament friendly, and Sydney's had plenty of home fixtures in the last eighteen months (and should IMO have the pick of the 2010 WCQs).

You have your wish Hiraldo, apparently Perth has been shafted - deservedly I must say.

Adelaide, Brisbane - I wonder if FFA are monitoring this forum

Good choices in my view anyhow, onwards to the Asia Cup Qualifiers.

It seems like a better fit.

Australia - Kuwait, August 16: Sydney
Australia - Lebanon, August 31: Adelaide
Australia - Bahrain, October 11: Sydney

FFA Link

Hmm.

Since the first-choice Socceroos team became predominately European-based in the early 1990s, Brisbane is the only major capital city to have not hosted a first-choice NT match.

I want to move interstate.

Two games in Sydney.

FFA to be renamed SFA.

Anyways seems like an ok fit, lets see the crowds in Sydney though.
