Just checked on webjet using Emirates Airlines...
Perth - Dubai 11 hours 15mins - direct.
Brisbane - Dubai 16 hours 15mins - direct
Adelaide - Dubai 19 hours 30mins (don't fly direct to Adelaide, have to go via Perth)
Melbourne - Dubai 16 hours 15mins - direct
Sydney - Dubai 17 hours 15mins - direct
Dubai - London - 7 hours 30mins.
18 hours and 45mins they can get to Perth...thus they have 24 hours in Perth before they play...I think the game was played in Perth because of this reason and this reason only...our isolation finally has some benefits
Perth - London 19 hours and 40 mins (about an hours stop over in Dubai)
Adelaide - London 26 hours and 5mins(quickest flight)
Brisbane - London 24 hours and 5mins
Sydney - London 22 hours and 45mins (direct flight, no stopovers)
Melbourne - London 23 hours (direct flight)
Thus when you have a game that you need a flight as quick as possible to get to an Australian City...Perth will beat Adelaide and Brisbane for a game mainly due to the time taken to get to those cities compared to Perth and if what Hiraldo mentioned is true(no doubt it is), is probably the very reason why Perth beat Adelaide (who they were competing with) if clubs will only release the players 2 days before the tie...
Otherwise I think clearly it would have been played in Brisbane or Adelaide...
If they wanted the best players to come out, definately Perth was the best city to go to, 5 hours extra on a long haul flight is substantial...
Thus Western Australians we have got the Socceroos due to isolation...thank god it gives us something...finally...
