Its a pretty broad question i realise, but what do you think is the best stadium in the world. Consider everythingthing, location, backdrop, look, capacity but mainly the actul stadium itself.

Im having a long hard think about my choice, but Telstra Stadium would be up there as its almost perfect.

Homebush - I wouldn't think that is in a specatcular location. Without a doubt, the MCG would be the best stadium in the world. Location, backdrop, structure, capacity that stadium would be the best.

There are so many great stadiums to choose from! There’s the new ones: Stadium Australia, Millennium Stadium, Stade de France; the proposed ones: Athens Olympic Stadium, Wembley Stadium, Ashburn Grove, Allianz Arena, MCG, Beijing Olympic Stadium; the old ones: Estadio Azteca, Bernabeu, Maracana…

I’ll have to have a think about this one! :?

It is hard to match the combination of location and facility. MCG fails me because I think the pitch dimensions are too big. I don't have an answer from the top of my head.

Would this be open to indoor stadiums as well?

Has to be the MCG!!!
There are lots of great stadiums in the world but the MCG has everything, the only thing wrong with it is its larger surface area but except for that its perfect in my mind.

It's got to be Wembley Stadium

- Sliding roof
- Close proximity to pitch
- 90,000 seat capacity
- Legroom
- Passionate crowd
- Acoustics
- History

-And it's being built by Aussies!

The MCG's major sports are Cricket and Football, it holds a soccer game once every 4 years :).

For AFL and Cricket the MCG is the world premier venue and for infrequent soccer matches it rates up there amongst the best. The stadium is clearly one of the best, if not the best.

The MCG? You must be kidding?

I've always liked San Siro. It has a timeless design. It's starting to show it's age a little but it's still something special.

Wembley, The Millenium Stadium, Ellis Park, Amsterdam Arena, and Old Trafford are brilliant as well.

Telstra.

Reason,it can acommodate all field sports perfectly (MCG doesn't - it's useless to watch League or Soccer).

It has jagged over 80K for just about everything. Probably the only stadiumon the planet to get a full house for 5 codes of football, it is demographically central, and transport access is fantastic. It is modern, has great disabled access, and crowds can disperse quickly.

The MCG is old and uses yesterday's technology. And it's location? It's in bloody Melbourne LOL! That's a drawback from the start.

Telstra takes over from Wembly, IMHO. The grand old London ground used to be magnificent for League tests and FA cupfinals. Union never knew, it kept to smaller Twickers because it probably wasn't worthy of playing on such hallowed turf. I can still remember Australia's great World Cup triumph in 1995 there under a ton of adversity. Awesome!

MCG is great in location, just a quick walk from the city with lots of parking, train station just outside, and just a short walk from the citys main train station.

And theres lots of parking

Are you with it Misty? If you haven't heard the news, the MCG is actually being redeveloped! It's technology is beyond Telstra's. When completed, it will be one of, if not the best venue in the world. It also has what many other great stadiums don't have - history.

p.s. Check out www.mcg.org.au for some great updated photos - construction of the top tier has commenced. (click on redevelopment, then images).

I deffinately agree with you Cam, the MCG for me is unsurpassed by any other venue in the world. Magnificent, brilliant, stunning and etched in more history then stadiums twice its age. The sign that it clearly is the Most Spectacular and Brilliant stadium in the world. I may only see one drawback, its located in a city full of people, that are equally full of themselves, they deserve to be since they have such a unique brilliant stadium, but teams that no one in there right mind would barrack for like Hawthorn, Sth Melbourne  Although Collingwood and Carlton are hated equally as much. :P

If we believe the Queensland Government the best stadium in the world is Suncorp  Beattie is a pure nutcake

Dan, Millenium will be my favourite if Bolton can get to the Final of the Carling Cup and they manage to upset Arsenal in the final. I will deffinately change my tune, in all fairness though it is an incredible stadium, the atmosphere generated is SENSATIONAL for soccer.

MCG No 1

I thought the question was which stadium is best in the world? Not, Which stadium is better, MCG or Telstra Stadium?

This Sydney/Melbourne thing is way out of control.

PS. Misty Bee, you appear to have a real chip on the shoulder about Rugby. Every post, you can't help but have a go at Rugby. Chill out
